* We seen a boat yesterday, it is a Waterland 750 with a Volvo Penta MD7A engine.
We were cycling along the canal from Leopoldsburg to Bocholt going to a café that our daughter had recomended when my wife stopped and shouted at me "I like that one..." so we went and investigated after lunch, it was for sale and the local marina contacted the owner, we had a quick look, a short run and the deal was done.
She is called Casper and she is the above Waterland 750, 7.5 meters by 2.5meters with a shallow V hull and short keel towards the stern, it is shaft driven by the 9.6kW Volvo Penta engine and can do about 9 to 10km/h.

This is an inland waterway boat and not a sea boat and will do us while we get to grips with boating. Very much like the Hardy 25 but not so sea worthy, with a bigger engine the boat would get on the plane too, but then it would be in a different licence class.

We are both booked for the Power Boat level 2 course at Largs next week when we are back in Scotland. We still would like a Hardy but this is going to be better to learn on and is local to us it is registered as a low speed pleasure craft in Belgium and does not require a licence to sail.
Attached picture of Casper I took yesterday
Regards
Alistair.
