* I am thinking that the fitments are bases for bait tables.
My bait table clips into the splined fitting, very similar to yours, and is released by a button on the bottom.

An alternative to buying a screenwasher kit would be to use a rain repellent spray from Halfords or similar, to see whether you can get the salt water spray to run off before it dries. Apparently, several coats are recommended. Even cheaper is to try the old motorists' trick of rubbing half a raw potato on the screen!

The sockets are for fishing rod holders. We have two the same on our Family Pilot.

First, from your photo, that is exactly the same as the base of rod holders that were on our Hardy Fishing 20. the rod holder had a splined shaft that fitted into that base so the rod could be angled at whatever direction you required.
We had the same problem with our screens at sea with drying salt-spray some years ago and fitted a twin nozzle windscreen washer over the centre of each screen, with the hose hidden down the starboard windscreen pillar to the pump/reservoir which we fitted below the instrument panel, again on the starboard side. We purchased an inexpensive classic car kit off ebay with a 1.2 ltr reservoir, fused the power supply and fitted a control button on the switch panel. We use a standard dilution auto screen wash and find it very good for all sorts of conditions and it has been trouble free for a number of seasons.

Good idea Peter.
On a rough-ish day when our washer ran empty and I didn't fancy venturing out I put my arm out the side windows of our Mariner' and squirted the screen from a water bottle as a temporary solution.
The only thing I can imagine fitting in the star shaped hole is a winch handle. Why? I've no idea! Tony

You could try something like: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TAKPART-Universal-Windscreen-Washer-Classic/dp/B077N3V7H1/ref=asc_df_B077N3V7H1/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=226613731662&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16260679874628462210&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006826&hvtargid=pla-699373423121&psc=1

* Motoring in our Hardy 20 on a hot and rather windy day, salt spray on windscreen dried in seconds and the wiper couldn't clear it. Other than climbing out of the cockpit, has anyone found a clever way to wash the windscreen? Any ideas most welcome.

The attached photo is one of four fitments, one in each 'corner' of the cockpit. I've shown the photo to so many people (including fishermen) and no-one has identified them. I've also tried looking at Attwood's website and asking their UK agents.
Can you solve the mystery please?

Thank you.
Rod
