Hi Peter,

Firstly, Nice choice of boat, the Pilot 20s appear to be a good package, as I suppose are most of the Hardy models.

The addition of Pilot house doors appears to be a popular installation to many of the earlier Hardy boats with the possible benefit of extending the season/use of the boat into poorer weather, some clearly will have been later additions carried out by owners but it’s possible that the build specs included various ‘extras’ and additions offered to suit the requirements and specific needs of the customer.

I know that Hardy offered some of these at the time of ordering to be included in the build, so many ‘standard’ boats will have left the factory with these and so most boats will be ‘unique’ to a degree, all Hardy boats are ‘special’ as their owners will attest to.

Sorry but it’s an educated guess and I don’t know if anyone could give you a definitive answer as to how many were built that way, suffice to say, you have a nice boat with what sounds like a desirable feature.

We once viewed a Hardy 19 Regatta that had such doors and screens fitted, nice boat but we concluded not the right one for us. It was clear to us that (may be wrong) this was not an original Hardy factory addition and had been completed by an owner at some time.
Although well executed, for us it felt just a little ‘claustrophobic’ in the wheelhouse as a result, although doubtless would prove a bonus especially in the Northern climate we ‘enjoy’!
