* Great pictures! We had the crane down over the weekend and manged to get 35 boats launched (just the one Hardy!). A bit windy on the Sunday. Boats all looked very smart and although its a busy weekend its a good social event for the TYC members. Bait booked for Thursday, off to frighten a few fish on the Blyth Sands..........Tony

Well done Martin, she looks great. We had a River Pilot a few years ago, a really lovely boat - great layout! Enjoy! Best Regards Simon.

* Bought my River Pilot at the end of last season in a really rough condition. The hull was badly oxidised, the rope fender had almost disintegrated and the canopy cover was all cracked and leaky. The outboard leg was all 'gunged' up and the antifouling was practically non existent. So I set to throughout the winter to refurbish her. I polished the hull, fitted a new polyhemp fender and bought a new cockpit canopy - and also changed her name, and now she's back in the water ready for the new season. I'll try and attach a couple of pics but last time I tried it the boat looked as if it had been passed through a mangle! Still if any of you are on the Thames in the Reading area keep a look out for Tingle. Martin

I wouldn't worry too much Clive. We've already serviced, cleaned and re-commissioned Hauley - following three years of getting her just to where we want her - but as from yesterday we've closed a deal to upgrade to a new boat - so it's back to square one... still, it's all part of the fun! Cheers Si.

Corks! We're only just about to get the tarp off and put the canopy back on, never mind the polishin' and waxin'! I feel like the kid at school left in the wrong end of the playground!!! Just stripped and cleaned the dinghy today to find one tube going down slowly... probably the valve again... where's the soap solution gone... Not wanting to go in too late this year, so aiming on less boatyard work (except a bit more polishing and waxing to try an get a nice blue shine for at least a few weeks!) - and yes you're right Tony, it was a very windy winter! We deserve a nice calm warm summer, so we're going to have one (please?). Another very wet and windy nameless storm blast on Sunday in the meantime though... Oh well, back to boat sorting! Happy Boating Season! Clive

All ready for the off! Earlier lift in date was postponed due to high winds. Is it my imagination or was that a very windy winter.........? I wish all HOC members a very successful season. Tony

That's kind Si. Truth be known, I do not get round to doing my hull as often as I should really, and that picture was taken last year !!! so I've cheated !! You are not too lazy, just very busy with work. Just in case anyone would like to contact AGlaze, if you write to Louise at this email address and mention that you are an HOC member, I am sure she will do her best for you. louise@marineaglaze.com (PS. No I am not on shares !!!!) Good luck everyone and all the best for the new season. Marie

The shine on Marie's boat always impresses me. I was very sceptical about the A Glaze finish - but it does seem to do the job! Great job all - I'm too lazy and have a fully white boat!..

Thanks David. I'll bear these posts in mind for next season. I did try a polisher but kept snagging the rope fender. Tony

Also the antifoul colour is "true blue"which is almost an exact match to the blue band and enhances the look when on the water.

First a good wash with strong detergent removed all old polish, then compounded with Farecia G3 compound paste, then polished with international marine polish, then international UV wax sealer followed by Autoglym super resin polish(for cars I know but works well!) and another wax coat, elbow grease and an electric polisher! Plus the camera has a good colour saturation filter!!

Thanks Marie, looks very impressive! I googled the Aglaze and will give it a shot after the current Starbrite product runs out. I'll post a photo after the weekend, Tony

* Hi Tony, I use AGlaze, and it has served me well - although not cheap. My boat is an 1984 Family Pilot, so loads of blue to contend with.... Well done David. Marie

Yes, very smart David, well done! I am particularly envious of the shine on the wide blue stripe. Bane of my life on our boat. Always looks flat or chalky, despite a lot of polishing. Whats the secret of your success? Tony
