hi i have a navigator with the helm on the port side i think they changed the side because well in mine when on the plane with just me the boat leans to the port but that was an easy fix i moved my gear to the other side (shifted the weight about) and it seems a lot better wether that is why i dont no cheers chris

Hi Peter. Just for the Record, I believe the 17PH and early navigator (up to 1984 / 85 boats) have the helm on the port side. The 1985 / 86 boats onwards were on the starboard side. In addition, you'll notice the interior layout is also handed - i.e. the galley is on the starboard on early boats. There must have been a very good reason to change as it would have incurred some mould re-tooling, but I suspect it was more to do with standardising the range (hardy pilot always had the helm on the starboard!). I see no real practical benefit for one or the other layout and would happily have either! Ref hull numbers, they are (from my experience) usually stamped on the aft port quarter in the hull moulding, and on the aft port deck moulding (Inside the boat, above the white curved seat cut out. Cheers, Simon.

I am buying a Navigator 18 and the steering is on the port side. All the photos of others are on the starboard side. Is mine a one off? Where can I find the serial number so that I can trace it's age? Thanks
