Hi Peter
From memory I’m sure the metal work is secured from underneath but would need to check location and access. Next time I’m at the boat I’ll check.
All the best
Robert

Hi Robert. Thanks again. Will do prep work and tackle the glassing when weather allows.
One question if you can help. I did consider that the fixing point of the pulpit may be the cause of leak. Do you know how it is fixed? No bolt visible under deck. I suspect a flat headed Allen key bolt. All the best. Pete D.

Hi Peter
Yes, cleaned up the anchor box and re-glasses. Probably laid more on than needed but wanted a good solid covering. Usual messy job but did the trick.
I’ve used silicone past and present for different little jobs. I tend to use Sikaflex rather than a general marine silicone.
Good luck
Regards
Robert

Thanks Robert. I suspected that the plywood bulkhead was the culprit. I take it that you reglassed inside anchor box. I intend to seal the whole hatch with temporary sheeting and confirm. Need a quick fix for rest of winter. May resort to silicone sealant. Any thoughts?

Hi Peter
I had a previous leak on my Pilot which looked as if it was coming from around the shelf area.
One suggestion is to have a look at the condition of the anchor box dividing wall to the cabin. As you know water gets in but runs out through the drain hole. I discovered that the fibre glass had become thin in places and damaged due to years of anchor storage.
I cleaned up the area and as the wood underneath was secure I reglassed and my problem was solved. That was 10 years ago and no trouble since.

Kind regards
Robert

I have a Pilot 20 and have a leak in the right side around the forward shelf. Any advice welcome on likely leak points. Pete D
