Hi Nick,
We use Parcels2Go and sent through DPD Collection at £13.31 (as at late January). P2G has a good number of other choices if you prefer other couriers. The canopy came back from Covercare reliably via UPS.

Hope you can get to the boatyard soon. Some seem to be open, and some not, and depending on how far you have to travel, and whether it is non-essential or safety checks!

Happy canopy recovery!
Clive

Hi Clive
Many thanks for the update. Your recommendation has strengthened my resolve to send my Pilot canopy to Covercare; it was the cleaning of the black mould that was of particular concern. Once I can get to the boat I'll rig up a temporary tarpaulin cover and send the canopy off. Just out of interest, who did you send yours with?

Regards and thanks,
Nick.

Just to add that we too have now had our Pilot canopy laundered and re-proofed by Covercare of Emsworth, and we can now also thoroughly recommend them to anyone else needing a serious canopy clean! Our canvas cockpit canopy has now been fully rejuvenated, and the black mould on the underside of the canopy has been removed to an extent that we have never been able to achieve before. Total cost was £77 plus courier £15 to return it. We also had some remedial work done including repair stitching, a clear patch to repair a small hole in a window panel, and an additional new zip for a further £75, which has further extended its service life.
Adele will certainly now be well pleased with her nice clean and newly mended canopy!

Thanks for the recommendation Ian, I think we may be exploring that route for our Pilot canopy as well!

Great tip!

Clive

Hi Ian,

Many thanks for your open and honest reply. I think that that is a very good price, especially considering it included a zip replacement and a repair. I think that I will contact them after Christmas.

Interesting, that like my posting, your's consists of two identical replies. Maybe this is something for the owner's club webmaster; I clicked the submit button but nothing happened, hence clicking it a second time, maybe that was my error. We'll see what happens this time.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas,

Nick.

Hi Nick,

Covercare charged me £82.40. That was laundering and reproofing, full zip replacement and a chaffing repair they also included delivery back to Pembrokshire.

Hope this is useful.

Best regards

Ian

Hi Ian
My canopy on my Pilot is very dirty, particularly on the inside with the dreaded black mould. I've also tried a number of treatments with very limited success. I've looked at the Covercare website but it gives little real indication of prices to clean a canopy. Can you please tell me how much your's cost, just as a guide.
Regards, Nick.

I don't know if your Navigator canopy is anything like mine, stained, salt encrusted, mildew, broken zip, etc .it was like trying to fold a stiff cardboard box. I tried gently jet washing and various canvas cleaners, without much success. Eventually I came across Covercare, Emsworth. One phone call and just 3 weeks later my canopy was returned, looking like new. All for a very reasonable price. I don't usually make recommendations, but these people are very good.
