The engine lleg length is the main point as the propeller needs to be in clear water flow.

Found a photo from before the boat was put in water and up on blocks in the yard.
hopefully shows enough of the issue and any advice on if a shorter shaft out board would be better suited.

You should have bilge keels fitted or her centre line keel so the engine should be okay.

Will post photo, we were told when we bought the boat that it was a MS that did not have the mast fitted.
I have not got a photo of engine installation to hand so that will have to wait till we get to the boat.
The boat is of 1990 build.

Hi Mark,
Could you post a ohoto of your engine installation so i can give you advice on what if anything you can do.
The only Hardy 18's with an inboard -ouboard well was the M/S 18 the rest of the 18's were engunes fitted in outboard welk on the transom.

Our Hardy 18 has Johnson 9.9hp which powers it well enough for our needs but is an inboard outboard which makes lifting the outboard not possible as it hits the rudder.
When the boat takes ground the current outboard is deeper than the keel level so it sinks into the mud which fortunately at our mooring is very soft.
The question is should the outboard be protruding below the keel I feel it shouldn't and what do you do about raising it when boat not in use.
Any advice welcome.
