We bought a Daddy long legs for our Hardy 20 and it works a treat. We are on a swinging mooring very near a bird nature reserve so we needed to get something that worked so I can recommend this. It’s easy to fit using the sandbag accessory which is available from Force 4 -this holds the unit in place then we used some cord to tie and secure it on the roof next to the hatch.

We have a gullsweep on the wheelhouse roof on an ali bracket that part covers the canopy on our FP, which seems to have been very effective over past few years.
However, we now have a mooring very close to a fishing boat that is great, does attract a gull or two. We tried green plastic snakes, and did seem to work - one on the cabin roof and one one wheelhouse roof. One did disappear though near end of last year, and can only assume said gull-theif was fairly disgusted with its catch!
Some boats nearby have also successfully used bunting. We trialed it at end of last year, and did seem successful. We will be using snakes (secured) plus bunting this year when finally (hopefully!) get back on our mooring. Gullsweep still there doing its job when when allows...

I bought the thin (width tape) it appears to work, you get loads to replace , ideal small boat I have on 32, I don’t notice the noise .... it could be a frequency thing ... or I’m deaf !

Try Googling 'humming wire' but note it is very annoying for neighbours, or for you if sleeping on board.

Hi Nick
I use a gullsweep and it’s brilliant for keeping the birds off. Used it for years. Only thing is it’s not allowed in some marinas as it can be quite noisy when there is a fair wind blowing as the vanes flick from side to side and of course doesn’t spin if there is no wind.
They may have made some changes to it over the years since I purchased mine. Worth checking it out though.

Cheapest is a roll of whistling tape.
I bought green snakes didn’t work I’m afraid.

It worked for me straight away on a Navigator.
I never had them paying their respects after that.

In my marina there is a lovely little Pied Wagtail that hops from boat to boat singing his lovely little song. Alas, as well as singing his head off he is also leaving his "calling card" on every boat he visits including my Hardy Pilot. Having just had the canopy off and given it a good scrub, you can imagine my annoyance of finding a veritable pile of droppings just below my aerial; in fact the little blighter was sitting there when I arrived on Friday.
I've removed the aerial, it's not connected to anything as it happens, but I'm sure that won't be the end of it. If anyone can suggest some kind of deterrant then I'd be most grateful.
