Hi Julian,

Might be worth talking to lancing marine. They do a lot of marinising parts for different engines and have a lot of experience in the field. For example they advertise a Ford fsd engine which i believe is basically the ford transit 2.5 DI engine. They have it rated at 65hp but it was available in higher, they also state it is suitable for stern drive applications. These engines would be cheap to find and run, indeed I have one fitted in my series 2a landie. Been there for last fifteen years with no issues whatsoever and still going strong. Good luck with your search.

Thanks - I will provide more info when I have taken over
Use will be inland rivers only but I wouldn't want my "conversion" to limit its potential
All parts will need to s/h to keep costs down - either bought rebuilt or bought and then rebuilt by me
Current install is a Volvo AQ151C and Volvo stern drive (exact details not known)
I'm going to use the existing configuration whilst parts are sourced even if that takes 12 months....time is not a major issue
More to come.............

Hi,

I am new to this forum and about to be come the owner of a Hardy 25 with a petrol engine

Is there an established "standard" easy swap over engine solution as there is with small Freemans

The current installation is a Volvo Penta AQ petrol engine and stern drive - to further show my ignorance is the sterndrive also the gearbox leaving me needing a short engine or do I need an engine and box?

Any advice would be much appreciated as would advice on where to source and who might fit

Post purchase the boat will be being moved by road and it might make sense for it to go to someone en-route to do this job before it gets to me

I tried to post this this morning but something went wrong so apologies if two posts appear - it will be interesting to see how similar they are!

KR to all Julian
