Has anyone got any specific recommendations for suitable tools for gently cleaning the rails and also the small space between the sliding windows where they overlap? Thanks in advance. Martin.

When you open the catch, lay your hand flat on the glass and push as you slide the window open. You may find that helps. Regualr operation also helps as Peter says.

It's generally due to salt deposits from spray or lichen. Try checking that the drains in the seals are clear, flush out the seals with fresh water and then use (regularly) a silicone spray where the panes slide. Do this with the windows closed and then open to cover the entire area and don't forget the vertical seals and the seals above the panes.

We've recently become the proud owners of Lorien, a late-90's vintage Family Pilot 20. The sliding windows in the wheelhouse sides are very stiff to open/close - any ideas for getting them sliding well, without wrecking the seals?
