Hello - my Family Pilot cockpit floor bears some resemblance to those discussed already; please bear with me and offer advice and/or suggestions.
A section of my cockpit floor shows very slight movement; it is an area approximately a foot square, or a little larger, where one treads when coming out of the cabin. I suspect that one's main bearing is on that point when coming out of the cabin. The movement is only slight but can be seen when pressing firmly with one's hand. There is no covering on my floor.
I have considered the possibility of adding fibreglass matting to increase the strength in that area or possibly overlaying the area (greater) with some marine ply, and fixing in place.
I should add that I do not have the skills to remove the floor, as Jim did, nor could face such as task. Please help.

Old floor removed new bearers in place, marine ply fitted and fibreglassed then flow coated. Solid as a rock now very happy.

Hi Jim,
I can see from the photo that the floor was in a bit of a state, The blank in the middle is to cover over the keel void. I would remove the whole floor plywood and then re-instate the panel with a couple of floor bearers across the widest part. Then glassfibre the whole floor panel in place and then flowcoat the floor.

Hi Jim
From I remember while working at Hardy Marne from 1983 to 1990, they were made from one piece and from what I remember they were braced in the middle to stop it from being springy in the middle.i hope this helps

From the small amount I could see it looks like the wood section sits on the outer edge of the hull. Anybody know if this floor was made in one section of wood as I couldn’t see any supports underneath.

Hi Jim,
The best way is to cut the glass fibre top off the floor and then inspect the floor and then make a plan on what to do next.

Dear Jim,
The quickest way to overcome the problem is to cut out the floor panel as a whole and reglassing it in place again. This is a straightforward job as long as you take it carefully around the edges of the floor where it sits on the hull. If you need to discuss your options you can give me. Any ideas with the cockpit floor. Have noticed it getting spongy under foot and now that I have cut a access panel the wooden underside is very soft in places.
