Kenny, Thanks for your prompt reply, as I have bifold doors across the back of the wheelhouse I will keep the opening hatch but cut a square out of the hatch and fix acrylic to it. That's a good tip re edging the acrylic I will give it a go this summer. Steve.

* Steve, No problem. I was not bothered about an opening hatch. Screw fixed 6mm clear acrylic sheet over opening. Used blow torch to heat/polish edges to a finish, rather than saw cut. Still looks pretty good after five seasons. Planning to replace in 2017 as some cracking at screw holes. Better to machine bore screw holes on flat surface, as hand drilling can cause bit to bite into acrylic and chip. Kenny

Hi Kenny, Reading the comments on winter storage and looking at your last photo I notice that you have a clear hatch cover, I have just purchased a Regatta that has a solid fibreglass hatch cover over the wheelhouse and have been. Wondering what to do, your hatch cover looks like the answer, How have you found it to be and have you had any problems with it ? Steve. I apologise for hijacking the thread but when I saw the hatch I had to enquire.

* Simon, Thanks for your advice. Decided to use decorators extension pole, running fore & aft From wheelhouse to bow handrail, before using tarps. Seems to work. Kenny

Hi Kenny Your "Tenting Option" would be great for air circulation and keeping her cleaner, though you might struggle in windy conditions. When I had the Navigator, I used to cover her over with a Canvas - I had a small wooden frame that would sit on the pulpit and over to the wheel house, and made a simple "semi tent" - it was never ideal, but worked ok. Most important as you say to tilt the engine down, drains all the water systems and if you're able, pop a small heater (electric tube heater) inside and run it on low heat - to help push out the moisture. Don't forget to winterise the engine - i..e fog the engine if 2- stroke, and liberal spray of duck oil or wd40 was ward off moisture from the contacts and surfaces under the cowl . Good luck, I think we're all looking forward to spring! Best Regards Simon.

Hi, Harvest Moon is now on blocks for Winter storage. Usually I cover with a couple or tarps, protect outboard with foil type car windscreen covers. Keeping engine tilt in normal running position, as got caught out a couple of years ago with ice build up. Does anyone have an alternative way to protect from snow, ice? Was thinking of forming arched rib type frame from MPDE pipe, cable tied to stanchions, with one large tarp. Ribs would keep tarps from touching wheelhouse etc, allow access for maintenance during, what I expect to be a long cold Winter. Kenny
