Hi Graham. Do you have a Motor Sailer 20 or a Family Pilot 20? If a Motor sailer - the keels should provide some protection - perhaps a skeg fited below the drive would be possible. If it's a Family Pilot, then I'm not sure - maybe a skeg could be made but I suspect it would be quite draggy. I have often had props repaired by Streamline Propellers at Aldershot, it's amazing how bad the prop can be before Geoff sets them right again. If I've had props go through around four or five refurbs before they were scrap - and that was on 200hp sterndrives. If teh prop has only need repaired once - then maybe they can still fix it. In terms of Replacing the Propeller, as a club member and with a saildrive - you should have a chat with Sillette Marine, one of the Clubs advertisers - their advert is in the Marine Market section to the left of the fourm. I know thay stock lots of props and may have some valuable experiance with your particular problem - perhaps a differnet type of prop and different material would be better. Also - maybe they offer HOC members a Discount?? Might be worth checking. Best Regards Simon.

My hardy 20 sail drive is on a swing mooring which can go dry on very low tides. The propeller therefore can hit chains etc and gets damaged each year. I refurbished last year but it now needs replacing. Any info on best place to purchase a new one and also any ideas 're the damage each year from low tides GRAHAM DYER
