You could try soaking it in Viakal - the stuff you get from supermarkets for cleaning lime scale. Hi Martin. I have used diluted brick acid in some cases - only only in areas when I can control the pollution - be careful!! It does work wonders...!! Si.

.........and it was, Star Brite Boat Bottom Cleaner. As I said, very caustic stuff, if you try it, make sure you use rubber gloves, and don't get any in the marina! It brought up my outboard leg a treat, and it really did have some thick horrible mess on it which wouldn't shift with anything else. Hope this helps Rob

Hi Martin, I used some stuff from my local marina. It was very caustic, and VERY effective. I can't remember the name of it, but will check when I go over tomorrow. Cheers Rob

Anyone got any suggestions for cleaning hard on gunge from the lower leg of a Honda outboard. It's only from fresh water use but is to hard to come off with a jet wash. Thanks Martin
