Hi again Hugo, I know the River Pilot well, as I very nearly bought one myself years ago, because of the 'open plan' layout, but I did realise which of the two boats you owned. I will rummage in my files of Hardy pictures and see if I can locate one of the craft I viewed a few years back to see if it shows your set up. All the best, HOC Editor

* I do not own a Hardy Family Pilot, by the way, but a Hardy River Pilot, as you can see in the attachment. In that boat the setup of the steering position is a little bit different. Hugo Peters

Hi Pat, That sounds like a very good idea to me with space and storage being an issue. Our 'crew' consists of two rather large adults and two dogs (there used to be three) so I decided to opt for more deck space. Still think your idea sounds good though. All the best, HOC Editor

Hi. I took the step out of my family pilot and made a box at the correct hight with a sloped lid and find it great for additional storage. I find it very handy. Pat.

* Ahoy Hugo, I don't know if this will help, but this is a picture of the original step on my Family Pilot before I changed it to a SS one. All the best, HOC Editor

Dear Simon, Would you happen to have a picture or a drawing of the "other" footrests that you described. This might make it easier to for me get an idea of what those footrests look(ed) like. Thank you for your reaction, I really appreciate it. Kind regards, Hugo Peters

Hi Hugo, On the other family pilots the foot rest was made out of three pieces of marine plywood bolted together and covered in carpet. Which was then bolted to the bulkhead at the desired height. Kind Regards Simon Papendick

I have recently bought a Hardy River Pilot and the footrests for the steering position are not very comfortable. They are just some holes cut into the wood in front of the seats. Would anyone have any ideas or a drawing of footrests that make the steering a bit more comfortable. Any ideas would be welcome. Hopefully there is someone out there who has experienced the same problem and come up with a solution. Thank you very much. My name is Hugo Peters, I appear to be the only Dutch member of the club.
