Ahoy Alastair, Thanks for your interesting post regarding your thoughts on a large rigid/removeable sunroof for your newly acquired Seawings 254. I think the best thing that I could suggest is for you to take the same route that I did with regards to sourcing a sunroof hatch design for the Family Pilot, which after two years of research and development by two Pilot owners has reached it’s final stage, resulting in the fitting of these hatches to two HOC members’ boats, which have just recently successfully completed their sea trials. This will be documented in the next issue of the Hardy Owners magazine to be published in September. My suggestion therefore would be to take some photographs and measurements of the roof void of your Seawings and pop along to a major boat show where you will be able to speak directly to companies like Seaglaze and Houdini (in our case we visited both the London & Southampton Shows) and speak with the representatives of as many marine window suppliers as you can to acquire some advice and suggestions and go from there. It will take some time to organise, but once you get some feedback, you should be able to move forward in small stages. I warn you it does take some time, but be patient and have a go. Bear in mind that if you can find other Seawings owners with the same idea, then as a group you can interest the marine window companies further as they will see it as a worthwhile investment to help you, knowing that others may follow, and also the more orders they get, the lower (in theory) each sunroof should cost. Perhaps start a new thread on the Forum under the heading ‘Seawings Sunroof hatch Development’, to draw in other Seawings owners to that specific post and see if it gains momentum. I know of at least one other Seawings owner who made contact when we were researching our Pilot design. Let us know how you get on after speaking with a few companies at the Shows. Southampton Boat Show approaching soon, 15th – 24th September. Good luck. Marie O’Connell HOC Editor

Hello all, Have recently purchased a 1997 Seawings 254 and am in the process of tidying up bits and pieces including the canvas covers. I am also of the opinion that a large rigid/ removeable sunroof would be an ideal addition to the Seawings. I wonder if any members have made any progress on such an addition? thanks, Al.

I am very interested in both the sunroof hatch and the sliding wheel house windows but I have a Sea Wings 194 and not a Family Pilot, windows and hatch look about the same size but does any one have the exact sizes of the openings so I can check mine and add my name to the list of interested party's.

* Any of our members who are still interested in the development of our Wheelhouse Sunroof Hatch for the Family Pilot, can see the first prototype on the Seaglaze Stand G002 at the Southampton Boat Show 11th -20th September 2015. Please let me know what you think, if you can manage to visit the stand and have a look at the hatch, as the next stage will be to fit this hatch to a Family Pilot, to see if the instructions are clear and simple enough for anyone to complete the installation for themselves, with some basic guidance/knowledge and without specialist equipment. I will be reporting on the actual fitting in the January issue of the Hardy Owner magazine. In the meantime, the September edition of the magazine will be with you all very soon, (please see our HOC website and/or our HOC Facebook page for the magazine’s contents list) inside which we have a report on the hatch prior to it’s arrival at the SBS. Ideally we need as many interested members as possible to order the hatches in batches so as to keep the individual price of each hatch down as much as possible. Before we reach that stage, please email me and let me know if you want to be added to the list of potential purchasers (no obligation at this stage, just a double check of numbers). If you have already done this, you do not have to contact me again, as I will still have your details on file. Many thanks to you all, and please contact me to share your views about the hatch so that we can make sure the Club gets an affordable and quality product that we are all happy with. Regards, HOC Editor
