Where I stated "he suppliers to Mariners near me" in my previous post on this subject I meant to say "he suppliers to Marinas near me". Rob

Hello Mike I can tell you my opinion as this although I stand to be corrected by more experienced people. I had to put the logos of another boat manufacturer along the side of the boat, which after stating the make of the boat, a " curling wave" and a go fast stripe was about five feet long on each side of the boat. I also had the boat name on three parts of the boat to put on. I firstly cleaned the hull where the logos were gong with hot soapy water. Then use acetone on the same parts of the boat with a paper towel. With acetone as you only need a small amount you are better off going to Boots the chemist and buying nail varnish remover, as it mainly contains acetone. After this get an empty spray bottle. For example an old glass cleaner bottle or deicier bottle wash it out then put in a mixture of about 100 parts water to 1 part washing up liquid. Just before you put the logos on the boat spray this mixture so it runs on the area where the logos is going to go. This allows you to move the logos once put on, so it is in line. Regarding buying the stick on logos. You are best going to a seller (non marine) who advertises the fact that his logos are fine for boats. What is funny is where I live the supplier seems to find it hilarious that he suppliers to Mariners near me who then do a 400% mark up on what he would charge me. Hope this helps.

Hi Mike, Deciding on a name is the hardest part! It depends if you want a unique name or just a name that you like. I would keep your name fairly simple as you may be asked to spell it out phonetically if the marinas etc don't catch it first time. Think also of having to repeat it three times as per radio procedure. It may be quite a tongue twister. Sit at home and have a go at that before you decide on something. I hope someone can help you with a local supplier and also the best way to get it onto the boat. Glad you are making use of the forum. Sue

I wonder if anyone can point me in the direction of where to get my boats' name done, and the best way to do it? In particular somewhere local to the Hamble would be good. I am totally useless when it comes to sticking letters on to a hull for example! Before anyone asks, I'm thinking of calling it either Miss Guangzhou or Miss Canton, both the same city in China BTW! Or even Miss Behaving. I'm really quite hopeless when it comes to choosing names! Thanks, Mike
