I am just adding the conclusion to this in post in case anyone has the same problem. It appears boat has had extra "beading" bonded around the original docking area, perhaps carried out at the factory or by the supplying dealer. The Porta Potti 335 will not fit into this area. I may get away with carefully removing the starboard wall of the docking. I would like to thank Simon Kidd for his time at looking into this problem allowing me to send him pictures of the toilet docking area. It is good to have got to the bottom of it.

Hi Robert. I have a Porta Potti 335 (Same size as the 135) in my Navigator (It's 1991 boat with eh later GRP internal Moulding), the boat origionally had a sea toilet fitted through was fitted with the standard Hardy beading for the toilet (approx 2 inches high). The 335 slots in fine, I use a bugee strap to secure the unit in place. My Dad used to have a Navigator years ago - an earlier 1986 model. This had the same design internally within the locker, and had the same sized but ealier model Porta Potti fitted in the same way. Others I've seen have exactly the same units (135's or 335's). To fit the original sea toilet, the Lid was raised at the Hardy factory by about 8mm, though is not needed for the Porta Potti. Feel free to send me an email and I'll send picutures of the installtion back in reply - email address on the Southern Marine Surveys ad in the Magazine. Best Regards Simon.

Hello I know it is a couple of years later but have still not managed to fit any toilet in there. If anyone has a Navigator and has managed to fit a toilet in the purpose made compartment, please can you let me know the make and model. I have already tried the Porta Pottii 335 and 235. Apart from the side which has a cut out opening in the front for accessing the opening handle, there are three sides all about 3cm high on the floor of the boat where it has to fit into it. I am saying this as I believe some Navigators have had a sea toilet fitted. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Many thanks Robert. I have come to the same conclusion that the only solution is to increase the height of the lid. Actually I think you might find that the Ports Potti 335 is even smaller than the 345 with a height of 305mm, width 343mm, and depth 381mm. This information was supplied by Hardy’s themselves when I posed the same question to them. I was put through to Andy who was extremely helpful and phoned me back twice after carrying out his own research. It made me glad that I had purchased a Hardy with that sort of back-up service - as well as having access to the Hardy Club Forum that has put me in touch with you. Thank you again for your kind response and good luck with your modifications. Kevin

Hello Kevin I had the same problem when I bought my Navigator. I went for the Porta Potti 235 (later renamed Porta Potti 345) after care fully measuring the space. Despite this, it will not quite fit in, mostly because of the hull strengthener. I intend to add about 3cm height to the lid all round.

I should be grateful for any advice as to the correct chemical toilet to fit into my newly acquired Hardy Navigator 18 (circa 1985). Immediately opposite the galley area is a lift up locker with provision for a toilet and with a cut out opening in the front for accessing the ‘opening handle’. The dimensions of the toilet area are 30cm wide, 32 cm deep and 33cm high. Regretfully I can not find any ‘Porta Potti’, or similar unit, that will fit into these dimensions. They are all too big. Any help you can offer will be a great relief! Many thanks, Kevin
