Tips on trailing: The keel rubber rollers on our 2-axle trailer had too small diameter. It was difficult to get the Regatta into the water, without submersing the trailer! The rollers would not rotate. Made new keel rollers of POM (hard plastic, with bigger diameter than the former rubber rollers) in a lathe, and there where NO problems to set the boat to sea.

Hi I have a twin axle trailer for my Pilot and it is excellent. I trailed my fishing 17 on a single axle for years and find the twin axle much more 'secure' on the road. More blow out contingency. I'd hate to go back to single axle on a boat of this weight. The all roller format, rather than roller and bunks, works really well. Brilliant for launch and recovery. Cheers, Andy

Phil, I'd say that transporting is probably OK, but marginally so, depending on distance/road conditions. We recently moved a family pilot with a 75hp Mariner 300km on a similar trailer. Roads here in Ireland are somewhat rough after the winter, and the peat country has some fun undulations.... we were very nervous, as the whole rig was new to us, but by taking it slowly all went well, if a little bouncily at times. Our required tyre pressure was 54 PSI, so that was worth checking. Much will also depend on the towing vehicle - we used a Disco 3, which at nearly 3 tonnes was able to show who was boss. Strangely, performance and fuel economy were hardly affected.. The trailer's absolutely fine for storage, but if I'm honest, I'd be happier with 4 wheels - (or at least a spare!), if I were to do any regular towing.

We have a 20' family pilot fitted with a 4-stroke 25hp mariner, am mulling the possibility of transporting/storing on a single axle trailer rated at 1550kg load capacity. Would I be inviting disaster? Opinions and experiences welcomed. Many Thanks, Phil
