Thanks - everyone has pointed me towards the Beta as quieter, smoother, reliable, low consumption etc - 20hp 3 cyl now on order from Beta!

The Volvo Penta 2 cyl 17hp in my old (serial 1033) 20 M/s is, according to Volvo service engineer, knackered. The only description I can find for it is '3000 series KGMS2'. What should I be looking for by way of accurate desription for a 'drop-in' replacement. I see someone has a 18hp Yanmar 2GM20 fitted but confirmation of that, or a Volvo or other would be helpful. Don't understand gearbox reductions either! Anyone know of a sound, used replacement. I'm on Strangford Lough but will obviously pay carriage.
