I am using a 5kg bruce type anchor for my pilot...have a 7.5kg one as a spare but havent had to use it as yet , the 5 kg seems to hold very well in most situations....previosly i had a 4.5 kg danforth and a 7.5 kg cqr ...both held very well but lost them both on wrecks as i hadnt rigged them to self trip...you live and learn.

I want to mount 2 Vetus deck ventilators in the cabin ceiling of my Family Pilot 20(1996). Removing the inside ceiling I see wooden reinforcenments going from star to triboard. The holes will have a dia of 9cm. Is there any technical preference where to drill the 2 holes without making the roof weak? I want to buy 1 or 2 anchors for my family pilot, sailing mainly in inland waters with muddy bottom. Please advise me about type and weight of a suitable anchor. Thanks in advance.
