Fit a Ruddersafe device to the skeg of your engine.They cost about £150 and much less on e bay. It transforms the steering. There is thread on this device on the Shetland Owners Assoc. website. Go to gallery and then maintenance.I have one fitted to my River Pilot.

Like other owners I have trouble keeping my Hardy on a straight course, especially at low speed. She has a 9.9 Yamaha outboard and I've tried to get the tilt right, without obvious forward/backward angle to drive the bow up or down. Can anybody say if the boat's trim would make much difference i.e should I assemble all my guests in the cockpit or on the foredeck to improve the handling? The boat lives on the Norfolk Broads where there are one or two rather low bridges so a good aim is quite important!
