We have a hardy 25 with trim tabs and Mercruiser Diesel. We have been told to use the trim tabs to keep the boat lebel in lateral plane i.e. not listing to port or S'board and the leg tilt to trim her fore and aft. Seems to work OK but it is hard to tell from 'inside'. ideally, you need to be on another boat looking at yours.

Hi, Steve
Many thanks for your comments. It looks as if she will have to come out of the water!

Hi Mike,
Just had my Penta 290 leg off and reconditioned. Astern selection was very 'notchy' when all back together, in fact it was not disengaging most of the time. We thought it might either be cable adjustment or that the selector needed taking off the wheelhouse bulkhead and greasing up. Turned out to be that the selector pin in the leg itself had developed a slight lip which tended to hold it in place. All is fine now after some careful filing (this can only be done with the boat out of water and the pin de-rivited). I have both power tilt and trim tabs on my 25, still experimenting I'm afraid and like you would appreciate more info.
Regards,
Steve.

High to you all I'm back (left in 1987) Just become the proud owner of 'Horatio' Hardy 25 powered by Volvo Penta 151c petrol with Volvo outdrive. This brings me to my point, could anybody tell me how and when the power tilt should be activated? Also revers gear selection is very stiff. Any help would be gratefully received
Regards
Mike
