Sorry Andy, I never thanked you for your advice. Will look for a PSE and see what's out there. Cheers

I found the blue hull on my Hardy Fishing 17 to be very difficult to keep from fading. There is a post on here somewhere, where an owner outlines their buffing technique and gets good results. It does buff up well though. I got Pilot SE for this very reason, which has a white hull with a blue band. It is a dream compared to the old blue hull. I tested a diesel out drive Pilot, as that was initially my preference and found it very noisy and the engine box really affected space in the cockpit. I went with an outboard version as in my opinion it's a much better option. Quieter and more space. If you want a diesel the shaft drive Merry Fisher type boat may be better as they will have a Yanmar or similar in a box in the middle of the cockpit. You loose out on cabin space on these though. Cheers Andy

especially if the budget was, say, GBP15k, inboard prefered for economy and low noise, a cockpit for fishing & picnicing, based Spain (do I want a blue hull in Spain?), something with a loo, a small galley and somewhere for 2 to lay their heads...in very sheltered shallow waters but some trips out to sea to the 50 metre bathydepth (fairly quickly but not manic and expensive) and some trips up a very large river (the Ebro). IS a diesel better than an o/b? Is the positioning of the engine critical? Many thanks for answers from a yottie turning mobo-ie but who hasn't made up his mind which to buy. There do seem to be more Hardys around than any other types so they've done something right.
