I had a Navigator back in the mid 80`s. It was fitted with a 50 hp 2 stroke and it was on a drying mooring with no problems. My ex and I took her on many sea trips and had no problems in up to force 4to5 as long as we were careful. She was a fantastic boat and I have wondered many times where she is now. She was christened I Luffu 2 and if any body knows of her please drop me an email. Enjoy all you lucky people. Martin

I also sail in the Clyde area with a navigator. I put on a 50HP 4stroke Honda engine and with 2 adults can plane at up to 23 knotts on a calm day. I believe that 50 HP is the max that should be used for this boat. It handles well in moderate to rough(not to rough) weather conditions. Never had the need to sit on dry land but since it is a semi planing hull I see no problems with it as long as the engine lifts high enough to clear the bottom. I find it a good and stable boat.

Thanks William...I was begining to think that this was a 'ghost site'! What size engine do you use with yours. The one I have been looking at has a 45hp 4 stroke but I have been told that it isn't powerful enough and I ought to go for 60-90hp.

I sail my Navigator in the Clyde area, anything up to and including Force 4, she is fine. No problem with a drying mooring.

Can anyone tell me if Hardy Navigators make good sea boats please? Also can they sit on a drying out mooring without having to use drying legs?
