Patrick thanks for the feedback. Another question I plan have outboard fixed in position on bracket and steer remotely with rudder,is there an optimum position of the outboard to the rudder to maximise steering and maneuverability?

I am recently the owner of a hardy 18 Motor Sailer, plan to motor more than sail. I have an auxilary Mercury 7.5HP but need a new main engine. Any recommendations for a main outboard?

I have a 15HP Yamaha that I use for estuary / coastal - no problems so far even with fast tides
