I got a quote from Tek Dek of about £300 for a custom made imitation teak panel set for the cockpit. I might splash out on that as that would look really well. Grey Treadmaster would also be nice and a fair bit cheaper. The way I look at it is that I'll be looking at it for years so for me it is worth doing the job properly. The original Hardy carpet is hideous I think.

The tiles have arrived and are not what I expected (it is e-ay after all) as they are a fairly lightweight, spongy foam. Good thing is they wil be a piece of cake to cut etc. They are pleasantly spongy, I just fear they won't stand up to hard wear. I should be fitting them Sunday if all goes well and I don't have a hangover from the, ahem, 'meeting' I'll be attending Saturday evening. It wil be a test of both the tiles and my equilibrium. Regards, Andy.

I'm using imitation grey treadmaster from a boat jumble. Not as good as the original but much, much cheaper. Four years old and only just showing wear. The whole thing is much more presentable than stained brown carpet with holes in it. Michael (Pilot 1260)

I have used International Interdeck in grey on my Fishing 17. This looks excellent I think and is only 13 quid a tin. It is easy to freshen it up with another coat each season. Its also non slip. I am thinking of putting it on my Pilot. I have taken out the blue carpet in the cockpit and cabin as I think it looks grim and does nothing for the boat. Other options I have are the grey treadmaster. I have used the small grey treadmaster panels on my Fishing 17 and really like it. It's a bit pricey from memory. I priced some Tek DeK immitation teak for the cockpit and it was around 300 quid for enough to do the job. That would be excellent. I like those tiles off Ebay. Nice price and would save the floor if anything fell on it. Thanks for posting the link Andy. I'd be interested to hear what they're like. Cheers Andy

The standard carpet in my Pilot is a pale blue unbacked hard wearing thin carpet, but it's a bit like velcro in that everything sticks into it. I moor on a canal and the leaves, grasscuttings, twigs are a pig to get out. Therefore I have just ordered off e-bay some interlocking HD foam tiles, like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190217818810&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=009 which I am hoping will solve teh problem. One issue is that I am going to have to trim 10mm off bottom of cabin door, hopefully this will be worth it. I'll update when they arive. Andy

What kind of flooring are people using for the cockpit area of their hardy pilots? i currently have a black rubber flooring which has holes for drainage...looks a bit like industrial matting as used in machine shops ..problem is it leaves black footmarks all over the boat if you walk on it...embarrasing if rafting up...so i am wondering what alternatives are out there. will need to be waterproof and easy to clean as i do a lot of fishing. many thanks in advance for your help. (what did hardy use as standard?)
