An idea might be to get some test reprints from some of the mags. Do a search on YBW.com to see if there is any available. Cheers Andy

My Fishing 24 has been taking the bottom twice a day for 5 years on the Essex coast at Brightlingsea with only one minor problem. The battery locker outside the cabin door can take in water if it rains when the tide is out. Reason is that the outlet is obviously blocked when the boat is sitting on the mud so any water draining into the perimeter gutter to the locker builds up and overflows into the locker. Its unlikly that the water will build up enough to reach the battery terminals if the area is inspected regularly but to be sure I have fitted a bilge pump with a float switch, pipe discharging to the scuppers. Had no problems with the open heads to date. My vessell has been towed from Poole to Essex on delivery on a trailer but you need a big vehicle due to gross weight and I wouldn't want to be doing it on a regular basis. My engine is a Volvo 150hp. D41D with 1000ish hours on it which has performed alright to date. Have no knowledge of any other of the options. One thing is that I do not seem to be able to get the engine revs that the surveyor achieved when giving the vessel sea trials when I bought it. He got it up to 4000rpm currently I struggle to get near 3500rpm. Any thoughts? Regards Dave Kemp

Hi folks, I am currently thinking of moving up from my Pilot to a long wheelhouse Fishing 24. Does anyone have any comments on the merits or otherwise of this model? Some of my concerns are : (i) how does she take the bottom? (I have a drying mooring in North Devon) (ii) are there any problems caused by the 'open' heads arrangement in the cabin? (iii) which is the best engine to go for? (iv) is it feasible to tow her on a trailer? (v) anything else to consider??? Any advice, comments or information would be gratefully received..... Many thanks...... Pete
