We fitted our Eberspacher under the sink unit in our 1993 Pilot, suspended under the moulding. Very discreet and Fits perfectly there and still allows usage of the 1/4 berth. There it is well away from fuel, batteries etc. but well placed to serve the boat with hot air outlets. The only hassle was routing the exhaust pipe. As it gets v hot this needed some head scratching but eventually we opted for the shortest route, exiting via a stainless flange in the side wall of the wheel house, roughly level with work surface height. All works well enough, if a little noisy. Diesel tank is in aft floor locker, again away from flammable sources. However if I did this again I would opt for a butane gas blown air heater system made by Propex. Much simpler unit and less to go wrong (our Eberspacher has been very tempramental over the years). Furthermore, it shares the same fuel source as the cooker therefore less overall weight. Can be easily interchanged with an Eber system as has the same size hot air pipe fittings. Best wishes Dominic and Nicola.

Hi Philip, You are quite right to ask the question, I would be surprised if the heater unit is certified for use in a hazardous area which is what you might well be lookng at. what does Eberspacher advise? Cheers Brian bartlett

Hello, I am in the process of fitting a eberspacher heater into my hardy pilot 20, is it safe to fit the heater in the battery locker, I'm thinking of hydrogen gasses when charging the battery. I can go 2 ways, 25l diesel fuel tank and heater together or heater and battery together, can anyone advise which is the safe combination. Regards Philip
