Dear Reg, I have responded to your comment under the topic Membership just a moment ago, but will respond here also. I now have my membership number etc., and hopefully other new members will be receiving theirs soon. I spoke to Rowland Stansfield about the problems at the Club at the moment, and have offered my help in any way that I can . It is early days yet, but I hope that if all new members do likewise, we may avoid this ever happening again. All the best, Marie

Can the Hon. Editor help? He might have a contact number. The need for replacement committee menbers has been loud and clear both in the magazine and on the web site for yonks - but no takers! Good Luck. Brian Bartlett Ex. Editor of 'The Hardy Owner' p.s. I'm a stick and rag man these days with a Westerly.

I would be more than willing to help out, but I suppose I would need to be a member first! However, no reply from Rowland, who is in France for the Summer apparently. Perhaps if someone knew how to contact him, or others on the committee could process membership applications we might be able to make some progress. The forum is very useful though. Thanks to Geoffrey (Treasurer) for his help last week.

Oh dear, I have also sent a membership application and the money. Does this mean I will have to wait until next year before being allowed to join ? I am in the process of trying to source a Hardy Pilot. Finbar

I read your Forum posting with interest, and I am sorry about the problems you are encountering. I completely agree with your observations about 'doing something' The club is run by a small informal committee, although due to the widespread area which the club covers most communication is via the internet. The problem is that as with many small clubs obtaining volunteers to undertake running the club, although fairly simple, is a major problem - some committee members have been serving for many years to such an extent that some now longer even are actively involved in Hardy boating and are wanting to retire. We have requested volunteers in the club magazine and via the website but with little interest. We knew the Secretary was going away for an extended period and asked for someone to help with membership queries --------, we also need a new treasurer who has been hanging on long past his normal term of office. The Club has been running for many years and has always had a good following, and as you say the Forum is very popular - it would be a pity were now to close. If you feel you are able to help in any way this would be most appreciated, and with a few like minded members the Club could be re-vitalised - it needs new members on the Committee with new ideas!. The main problem is that the key to all this is the Secretary, who is now away until later in the year - he has all the Club information and paperwork - so as webmaster I am not sure how to proceed with your ideas, Perhaps we can have a sort out a little later in the year and reslove this problem, but in the meantime your patience is appreciated. Dear Trevor, I like you filled out my form and sent my cheque off to become a member. I have had lots of help from people via the Forum page as a guest, and thought it was time that perhaps I should contact the Secretary and become legitimate! I heard nothing for ages, and eventually learned that the secretay is out of the Country until the end of the year! Eventually by working my way through the list of Committee members, I made contact with Adam Easton ( Regalia Supply Manager ). He informed me that some of the Committee have retired and no one is willing to take on the work. The few that are left are disheartened with all of this. I figure that if it is so bad, then they need new members like us who might just get things going again. It is difficult to offer help, when you can't even become a member in the first place. I like you, and God knows how many others are frustrated, but there seems little that can be done in this situation. I hope we both get someones attention about this, because I don't want to be waiting for ever.I have offered my assistance, but again have received no reply. I feel that I will still be sitting by my computer this time next season having made no contact. At least the Forum is good. Thanks to the Webmaster. Regards Marie.
