I am looking to buy a Hardy Pilot 20. Have seen four, all with some detachment of the rope rubbing strake. How is this attached to the hull? Could anyone advise me about practical re-attachment methods? Thank you.

Hardy Fishing 20 Has anyone fitted a captain`s ''swivel seat'' to a Hardy 20? My newly purchased Fishing 20 has two old cockpit seats fixed on legs. I want to replace these with new ones, mounted on plinths which would be fixed to round floor plates. My problem is in getting at the underside of the cockpit deck so as to bolt these floor plates to the deck. The bolt holes on the inner sides of the floor plates would be fine I can get at the underside of the deck from the trapdoor. But the outer holes would go through the deck into the sealed compartment between under deck storage area and the hull. I have no doubt there is a simple solution....anybody know what it is, please? Peter

I wonder if anyone can help me with a leak that I have on my 1989 Hardy 25. I have eliminated almost every possible entry point by covering the front of the boat from the helm to the bow with a tilt (plastic sheet). The water comes in on the port side between the top of the seating arrangment and the underside of window. Is it possible for it to get through the rubbing strake, if so is it possible to remove it to reseal. Any advise on the removal procedure. I look forward to hear from your comments. Vic

Peter in anstruther carmi ms 20 l havnt got bilge keels on mine but found one in edinbugh with one on took sizes and position where they were if you go to a local blacksmiths they would make them up for you then just bolt them on the existing stubs, was going to do it to mine but on the odd occasion l need them l use sea legs bolted through the side scuppers, you sould sail a bit closer to the wind if you have them on. l mostly motor anyway being lazy when l do sail it sails by the knots of wind if 3/4 goes 3/4 knts 4/5 wind 4/5 knts and so on when going through the caly cannal last year the woman on the boat behind mine broke the nose pointer off the wind vain l find now if it moves and is steady without wavering in the wind there is enough wind to sail her at 2 knts dont think l will replace it got use to the quirk peter

I have a Hardy 20 Motor Sailer Number 832 which was built in 1982. When I bought the boat it just had a long keel but because my mooring in the river Fowey dries out i had Bilge keel plates fitted by Golant Marine ( Tel 01726 833318 )who did a superb job and very reasonable in price. The performance does not seem to suffer - the boat motors at 5/6 kts and uses 1/3 gall per hour and sails well but needs a force 3/4 wind. I am very pleased with the results

Hi all I would like to become a member but before I can I need to find a 20 motor sailer with bige plates as my mooring dries out. I have found one but with no plates. My question is can I fix bilge plates to a 1983 motor sailer and if so does it effect the performance in any way. I would be gratefull for any information. Regards Alan.
