Hi Ken, Glue. Try evostick contact adhesive, ie the proper stuff that gets you high if you sniff it. You will need to ask for it, as the shops hide it away from the local teenage sniffers. Warning ventilate well in use. Spray on carpet glue might work but only on a light weight carpet. Auxillary. I have 3.5 Tohatsu for the pilot because I use it on the tender as well and it's only 13kg. Eventually it gets up to hull speed! But if you are going to have to push tides you need to go bigger. Hairline cracks. Presumably these are round the stantions? The proper way is to grind them out make sure they are dried out and fill with an epoxy mix, but unless the cracks are really bad you will probably make it look worse. Hairline cracks can be filled with 'captain tollys creeping crack cure' this is a extremley thin viscosity liquid stuff which capilliary action sucks into DRY cracks. if you email me at angusgeddes@btinternet.com i can send you a pdf file on fibreglass boat repairs. This is an old manual but the principles hold good. If you do use epoxy READ the health and Safety warnings, it's toxic when wet and the sanding dust is very nasty stuff. Regards

Hello, I am a very new owner of a Hardy 18 navigator, I have no experience with boats and was hoping the more experienced of you could help me with your valuable advice, I would like to know what glue to use on fibreglass for sticking carpet to the bulkhead?, what filler to use for hairline cracks on decks?, and what would be a suitable size electric engine for use as an auxillary? any other tips and advice for a novice would be gratefully received!! thankyou.
