Thanks again Peter.
I have found the local Flogas stockist and will visit with a tape measure because, as you say, there seems to be two sizes around this capacity.

Tony - sorry to read that. My (second-hand information) is that a Flogas 4.5 is the same size as the Calor, but there are two types of Flogas 4.5 and you can't be guaranteed to get the correct size one. Calor have partially back-tracked on their 4.5 and say they will have refills available provided they have a stock of bottles of a condition suitable and safe for refilling. When knackered ones come in, they will be scrapped and no new ones manufactured. Calor having said that, there is still a huge shortage of refills, seemingly country-wide. Two 4.5s will fit in my 32's gas locker but it's tight fit; one bottle has to be put on its side to get the second one in and even then it's a job. I don't do much gas cooking on board, so will probably go to 907s; they will easily fit and I have bought an adapter for about £8 to connect my 4.5 regulator to a 907 bottle. (A 907 regulator wouldn't cost much more but I've only just bought a new 4.5 regulator.)
Regards, Peter

Hi All.
Further to my previous post I have measured the gas locker on our Hardy Mariner 25 and compared with new alternatives.
Not good news I'm afraid.
Looks like the proposed Flogas bottle won't fit through the gas locker opening and the proposed 6kg calor bottle would not have enough headroom in the locker.
The action taken by Calor in stopping the availability of 4.5 kg bottles seems to have been made with no reference to their customers.
I also wonder about the fate of empty 4.5 kg bottles and loss of deposit paid on these.
I'd be pleased to hear of any solutions to this issue from other members.
Thanks, Tony

Tony
The Flogas 4.5 butane is apparently the exact same size as the Calor 4.5; I don't know about regulator fittings. Calor has partially backtracked on withdrawal of their 4.5 but there are still supply issues. It can't be a shortage of cylinders; driving past Calor's place at Bury St Edmunds, one can't see the building for the stack of cylinders in the yard.

My apologies if this doesn't exactly follow previous posts, but it is gas bottle related.
Our Mariner's gas locker holds 2 4.5 kg calor gas butane cylinders. Service and standby.
I am told that this size is no longer available for refill.
Have other HOC members experienced this please?
Has anyone found a solution which allows 2 bottles to be kept in locker?
Has anyone experience of using the Flogas 5kg bottles. Is a new regulator required?
We would be grateful to hear of any solutions to this problem, please.
Thanks Tony

Hi Simon,
The lid was fitted with cleats and two bungee straps.

* Hi Andy.

Please see attached a picture of my beloved and missed old Navigator with the Hardy Locker mounted on the transom to Port. The lid was missing on Hauley - a canvas cover was made instead, the original was a hinged affair - GRP I suspect (Simon P would likely be able to confirm).

Best Regards

Hi Simon,
Thanks for your response, did the locker fit within the outboard motor well or was it attached to the back of the transom on the outside of the boat,
I'm sure I can find or make something similar once I know what it looks like, does anyone have a photo of an original one that they could send to me please,
Thanks all
Andy

Hi Andy
You are missing the outboard locker which we made at Hardy Marine. As I worked at Hardy Marine during that time If I had the measurement I could possibly be able to make one for you out of GRP. As this is what the original lockers were made from.

Hi everyone, I'm hoping some of you Navigator owners can shed some light on a few issues I have,
I've virtually finished refurbishing a rather unloved navigator 'Urchin' and am relocating her from the sea to the Thames and need to comply with safety test etc, can anybody shed light as to the gas bottle location please, I have a two burner hob and copper line coming fron the outboard well and that's it,
Am I missing an outboard locker or frame etc?
Any other advise about complying with the safety test would be much appreciated
