Hello David and welcome. Don't have any real experiences with electric outboards however regarding shaft length for a petrol auxiliary you are looking at a long shaft for the Pilot. Top of transom to cavitation plate. I'm not sure how they measure the Torqeedo. Kind regards Robert.

Greetings and a Happy New Year to all! I wonder if anyone has used an electric outboard for aux propulsion? My Pilot has a 40HP outboard and I am keen to enjoy greener (and quieter) inland cruising. I plan to take the boat up to Loch Lomond this year (see my post elsewhere), I am not looking for speed, or even particularly long range, as I expect to use the outboard at times. I am looking at possibly a Torqeedo Travel 1003 with additional batteries charged from my 100w solar panels and the outboard. Would I require a long shaft model? (Torquedo Shaft length: short 62.5 cm / long 75 cm) Any advise or thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers David
