Hi Phil, I have been following this thread and the Mk 2 were filled with foam when they were build in sections and other areas were left just as air voids. I hope this is the answer you were looking for inj regard to your boat. Regards Simon Papendick

Hi Phil. Simon Papendick who often posts here should be able to help with locations - he used to build the boats! It would likely depend on whether it's a Mk1 or Mk2. Mk1's have a non moulded - i.e. not smooth GRP interior with a timber gunwale, Mk2's have a moulded GRP interior (i.e. internal moulding) with rudder gunwale fender. To be honest I thought the MK1 only had air tanks (not foam filled) but may be wrong. The MK2 was stated to have "foam and air buoyancy" in the original brochure - but only Simon P would likley know. Ref Foam - you don't want it absorbing water through leaks etc - so make sure it's only in well-sealed areas unless it's a good closed cell foam. Also remember that foam offers less buoyancy than air alone and though an insurance to some degree against a smashed hull, might not be as good in the case of swamping a good condition vessel. Best Regards Simon Kidd.

Hello, Just wondering if anyone knows what areas of the Hardy Fishing 17 were foam filled originally. Separately is there any reason not to fill the gap between the hull and the cockpit sole with foam? Thanks in advance Phil
