Ahoy Peter, Thanks for contacting me - i have just emailed you back. I'm sorry about those notices - they are really annoying - but I AM receiving all my emails - Virgin did some sort of upgrade of their email systems and ever since, people have been contacting me to say they have been receiving those notices. Rest assured that I am receiving you loud and clear. I look forward to your article once you have completed it, and I know it will make an interesting addition to the Hardy Owner magazine. All the best to you, Marie HOC Ed.

* Hi Mike, Yes your right there must be a list to starboard but she seems level when on board but I suspect that there is a small list when no one is aboard. Yes I read the article and very interesting. I have to look at the prop on my engine as I do think it is a little coarse for the broads. She moves along at a fair pace on tick over so I think a finer prop will be an improvement. Max speed on most of the broads is 4 knots !!!! Sounds like a nice mooring you have there. Our mooring here in up a small dyke which is off the main river which is good as it means no hire craft come past. We have had some good moorings in the past here on the East Coast mainly in Marinas, but that was in our sailing days. Should have been on the boat today in the sun but I started work on the trailer yesterday and wanted to get it finished. I have put new suspension units and 13 " wheels on it as the old units were shot. Peter

I have a feeling that the reason it only comes in one side of the boat is that the boat is tilting perhaps just a tad to starbd! I doubt any boat is exactly level! Mine is also slightly bow down so the water does not flow into the aft sump. I do put a sandbag fully aft, but it's not quite enough so I've got to get another one! Stopping the water coming in is the best answer of course! I'm on the Hamble River so have tides and yellow wellies galore to deal with although the wellies have mainly gone in to hibernation now!! Luckily my Cheap pontoon berth only dries out for an hour or so at springs. Have you seen my missive about buying an outboard in the recent HOC magazine? The downside of being in tidal waters is needing a larger o/B Mike

Ahoy Mike and Peter, Thanks for the photographs of the 'fishing trip' Mike, much appreciated. Did you send any written copy - if so I may have missed it. Let me know when you get a moment - also about doing the column. My mum is out of hospital now, so trying to catch up with HOC matters. Peter - I've been reading your posts - would you like to jot down something about the refit of your Navigator for the Hardy Owner magazine? I would love to receive it if you wanted to send me some copy and photographs as you have been doing on the Forum. I will be working on the magazine from the beginning of November and we could cover what you manage to do up till the first week in December and then add a 'follow up' in the Spring edition as well depending on what you do next. Get in touch if you think that you would have the time to contribute - we would love to have you on board. Contact me via the Contacts page of our website and we can go from there. Many thanks, All the best, HOC Editor

Hi Mike, Yes its a Navigator 18 built in 1987 hull number 1936. What is strange about the leak is that it is only on one side (the port side) The previous owner has tried to stop it with tape under the wooden block and sealer around the cockpit edge but it hasn't cured the problem. I will remove the block and sealer and see what I can do. We are based on the Norfolk Broads and at the current time at Wayford Bridge until I can get it back on the trailer and home for the winter (only about 3 miles, so not a long trip.) We are only about 3 miles from the Hardy factory where she started life !!!! Peter

Hi Peter. Yes, I think I'm getting some water in that way, and I assume that small block of wood is to try and divert the flow! I've been trying to come up with a way to stop it that looks neat. The cabin looks nice; is your boat a Navi 18, and where is it based? Mike

* Hi Mark, The only leak I get at the moment is on the side of the canopy where the water drips down the side and then follows the base into the cockpit by the bit of hard wood fixed to the side of the canopy , see photo of the side deck, which shows the bit of wood with tape under. The photo also shows the side decks and the seven coats of paint that need to be removed. (I know it's seven as I counted them as I stripped a test area!!!!!) Peter

Definitely a busy winter for you, but spring will be here in no time!! Yes, I would love a nice 25 footer, but that will only happen if Ernie is good to me for Christmas! Perhaps a silly question but do you get any leaks around the canopy area? Mike

Thanks Mike, The refurb has started on the electrics and cockpit, Already replaced the battery and battery housing along with tidying up the cabling. The trailer is at home and I am just replacing the suspension units and upgrading the wheels from 10 inch to 13 inch. putting 1500Kg. units on the trailer. When that is done I will bring her home to do the deck work. the rest of her is in good condition so be fine for a spring launch. (That's if I don't decide on a Pilot 20 between then and now !!!) Peter.

Well that's your winter fun sorted!!! I use my boat all the year round, and last year managed to go out on Christmas day, as I also hope to do this year as the tide will be OK - just depends on the weather! Good luck with your referb and we look forward to seeing the results! Mike Insall

* Hi All, Just thought I would post a few photos of Dragonfly. We only bought her a few weeks ago and started to refurbish as we go. She has a Mariner 15hp big foot 4 stroke and we have a trailer with her but had to put her back in the water so I can work on the trailer to bring her home for the winter. As seen earlier we have started in the cockpit floor plus removed some very old and tatty lockers made from 6 mm ply and have replaced the curtains already. The decks /side walks have been painted and I have counted 7 coats of paint so far but that will all come off over winter. Currently moored on the Broads. Peter
