Ahoy Robert, You are correct. My Pilot is an 1984, and the same set up. The inspection hatch will enable you to empty any water collecting in the bilges. All the best, Marie HOC Editor

Hi Ron. My Pilot 20 is a 1986 and it sounds like your set up is similar to mine. I have the round inspection hatch which sits vertical in the centre of the drop down to the rear stern well. Then I have the two thumb screws either side at the rear and below the stern lockers. There is bilge space under there and my understanding is that this will allow drainage into the centre well. Kind regards, Robert.

Hi guys, I have a question that I need to ask our members that may sound rather silly but I need to ask anyhow. I have a Hardy Pilot 20 SE built in 1999. To the rear of the cockpit on the floor is a circular plastic threaded disc (around 6" in diameter) this I'm sure is an inspection plate that enables one to check the general condition beneath the floor, and this is fine. However, further to the rear of the boat and right at the back of the well are two threaded thumbscrew type units, one either side of the well that I know don't go through to the outside of the boat. Am I right therefore in assuming that these are drainage ports for any water that may have found itself underneath the floor? Ron
