Hi james mowthorpe, I have removed names like the ones you have on your boat. I have found that the best way is with a stanley knife scraper is the easest way to get them off with care and patience. Then compound and polish the area aferwards. Regards Simon Papendick J-Star Boat Services.

Gday James. My Bosun's name and ssr no. aren't hand painted. Assumed Vinal. Cheers Martin.

Hi Martin Thanks for the reply, I've used that technic for Vinal lettering but not hand painted letters. Do you know if they had hand painted and not Vinal letters on the hull? Cheers james

Have heard directing hot air from an hair drier on the lettering works. Not tried it myself, but sounds feasible. Regards Martin.

Hi all, I've just purchased a family pilot 20 se which has a hand painted boat name on the blue part of the hull. The lettering has been done professionally and is in good order but I wish to change the name of the boat ( I'm not superstitious !) . Can any one suggest the safest way to remove the lettering? Thanks, James
