Hi Henry. Sound proofing is a bit of an art form - so I'm told. If you have the space - then try fitting some good quailty sound insulation - with a lead barrier. You could also try "dynomat" if you have limited space. The other issue is that for good sound proofing a decent tight fitting cover is needed - and may need a neoprene seal around the hatch edge to help soften any hatch clatter.. Where is your boat based? Is she the HM6 that was in Windsor marina and later at Bray? If so I'm often in the area (I was in Windsor marina and I'm today and I'm passing again on Tuesday and Wednesday next week) - so I could arrange to drop by and take a look! Best Regards Simon.

Whilst waiting any response try ear plugs. They work for me. Cheers Martin.

I have a Hardy 20 Motorsailer with a Diesel Volvo Penta engine. We use the boat on the Thames river now and enjoy our little boat trips but using the engine all the time its a little noisy and im thinking of upgrading the sound proofing around the engine. Can any one suggest the best sort of sound proofing to reduce noise as we love the boat trips but the noise is starting to get to us... Thanks
