Hi Nick, The ETEC 90 ia around 140kg (depending on how much oil is in the tank). Yes its a quiet engine at idle and at speed. You will notice a slight increase in noise at around 1400-1600 rpm as the engine management system switches over from what might be described as "trolling mode" to "power mode". On my previous Regatta I fitted a Suzuki 70 hp 4 stroke. Lovely motor but a bit heavy I thought. Difficult to get the boat on the plane with 4 adults on board. This time I have also fitted Minn Kota trim tabs. These should reduce transom drag and improve overall balance. I can let you have some pics if its useful. My e mail is kelvin@lizroe-french.co.uk regards

Hi Kelvin, Thank-you very much for that info, The Evinrude ETEC 90 sounds great for the Regatta, any idea of the weight for the 90 and is it a quite engine. Cheers Nick.

Hi Everyone, Just fitted an Evinrude ETEC 90 to my Regatta. This is a stunningly good engine, its my second one so I know how it performs. Light weight, excellent fuel consumption and no serviceng needed for 3 years. Refit due to complete end of August. Estimated max speed in flat water is 28mph. Watch this space!! Hi Phil, I keep my Regatta at the Quomps Christchurch, any info would be very useful, is the 4 stroke better than the 2 stroke for noise, speed, fuel consumtion and weight, and would trim tabs help to keep the bow down and up on the plain. Cheers Nick ps what engine was the 75 2stroke.

Hi Nick, I was on the quomps last summer Q11 was my mooring. My boat name is seegans what is yours called? but im now back up in the solent at Beaulieu. Yes the the 4stroke is very quiet i hardly know its running.Speed is around 24knots flat out cant say on consumption as not been on long. Its slightly heavier then the 2stroke but not much. I havent got trim tabs but keep thinking about it,but i have no problem getting on the plain in seconds.Using the trim on the engine rises the bow ok for now. My old engine was a mariner that came from ribbs marine at christchurch. Nick if you wish to phone or email me feel free, mobile no. 07977406007, email greader@talktalk.net

Hi Nick, I have a Regatta 19 down on the solent. I was running 75hp 2stroke i now just upgraded to a 80hp 4stroke yamaha a couple of weeks ago. I have some weight in the front locker so the boats sits fine on the water and goes very well. If you would like more info feel free to ask. Where do you keep your boat?

Read what has been written here last 2 - 3 months about Regatta. 80 Hp 2-stroke is a fine motor for the Regatta. (Evinrude eTec...)

Hi. is there any one out there who has fitted a 80hp outboard either 2 stroke or four stroke to a Regatta 19, and what are your thoughts on it, weight/speed etc. Cheers Nick.
