My mate & I have just purchased an 18 Fisherman with a 75 mercury on. From what K Royde has said we cannot wait to get it in the water ( off Mersea Island east coast) for some seriuos cod bashing in October. Happy days. Martin

hi i have owned a fisherman 18 for the last 5 years. excellent sea keeping boat. you must go for a large engine though i have a mariner 90 hp on mine. useless with a small ie 50 hp engine it bow steers. i use it for angling and some lobstering. we have had full bore waves coming over the wheelhouse ( caught out in a force 8 to 9,) , the boat dosent even shake, very safe ,sturdy boat. not many 18 fishers around. you will not get a better boat for the size. if the boat you are loooking at is still for sale. grab it quickly

Hello there, have just read your comment, i have what i believe is a hardy fisherman 18, its definately a Hardy, has a cabin. I have it in a marina in Ireland. have only used it in lough Swilly in County Donegal but have found it very safe and stable. The cabin is very handy to get out of the wind and rain. I am going to take some photos of it this week as i am putting it up for sale. I can be contacted on bernardmceleney@yahoo.co.uk or (00353)873237677

Hi, I am looking at a Fisherman 18ft for sale and thought I would ask how they are at sea. I live on the west coast of Scotland and once out of the loch am completely exposed to the south west. I currently have an old D class inflatable lifeboat but would like something with some shelter. thanks for your help. John
