Hi Allen I have noticed the Tohatsu 70 TLDI direct injection 2 stroke advertised on Boats and Outboards for about 5 grand. This is a highly rated motor and gives a significant weight saving over a comparable 4 stroke with around the same fuel and noise characteristics. The 70hp Suzuki 4 stroke is highly rated also and is a commom fitment on the Pilot. Have a look on the forum for posts about it. It benefits from fuel injection and is about a grand cheaper than the Honda 75 if I remember correctly. It also benefits from fuel injection. If a 70hp is set up right with the correct prop, ie lets the motor rech max revs with your usual load, it should be ample for the boat. This should save you running into insurance hassle with a motor that is over the power rating. You should also fit trim tabs to your boat as this will improve it's planing performance. You need a Long Shaft for the Fishing 20. Cheers Andy

Hi , I have the chance to buy a fishing 20 outboard model , with a engine that is past its sell by date , " would make a nice mooring root !! " I contacted Hardy and they say max 70HP , but could not tell me the length ? for the outboard , short / std / long I need to shop around for a price of a more modern replacement at a cost affective price So has anyone on here used a slightly bigger HP motor on a 20 ? any recommendations ? Thanks in advance Allen
