Thanks for the advice. I brought her around from Plymouth to Dartmouth last weekend and encountered some very rough conditions. Thankfully, there was a waterproof jacket underneath the hatch, otherwise, we would have had some drying out of seat cushions to add to the list of jobs! This is the first time water has come in whilst at sea, but I'm going to fit a seal in the light of this experience. Last thing you need is to bed down in dampness...

Yes there should be a seal. However, Hardy seemed (at least on the 1993 Pilot) to be fitting a woefully inadequate thin rubber strip to serve the purpose that in time often fell off. Like you, we have found on washing the boat with a hose water often cascades into the fwd cabin. Curiously, it never comes in when undeway be it wind, rain or sea spray coming over the bow. Consequently we have lived with it. You can however purchase rubber self adhesive seal by the metre from specialist rubber seal companies (look in back pages of Practical Boat owner) that will permanently solve the issue. Regards Dominic and Nicola.

Washing our FP down today with a hose resulted in quite a bit of water entering the cabin through the (closed) hatch. There seems not to be a seal between the hatch door and cabin roof, and I'm not sure how helpful this would be in a blowy rain or in rough sea conditions. Does anyone else's boat have the same problem?
